Kimono Women

Question: Do a lot of Japanese women still wear the traditional kimono in Japan as everyday wear?
Answer: actually, no. you never really see kimonos at all. most people wear western clothes, but you will see some women wearing a form of thin kimono called "yukata" walking down the street or sitting on the subway. they either have some cultural function to attend, or they work at a fancy hotel or restaurant where traditional japanese attire is required. no one wears yukata just for the hell of it...

Kimono Sleeves Pattern

Question: What kind of kimono is this?
Today Mother bought me a kimono from an antique store. It's white and has only a basic floral pattern on it, and a golden dragon on the back. It also has short sleeves, not long flowing ones like I've seen on most kimonos.
Answer: I believe that is a yukata. It is only a kimono if it requires lots of layers underneath and and obi. If it ties up itself, then its not a kimono or a yukata, its just a asian inspired dress
