Buy Kimono Robe

Question: Do you think it's a bit odd?
I decided to buy a kimono for meditation. I don't understand the difference between a monk's robe and a kimono? Where could I even buy a monk's robe in Los Angeles?
I'm saying the Lay-out; they both look like simple robes to me except the monk's robe has a sash over it?
Answer: I'm not sure why you've settled on wanting a kimono for meditation if you don't know the difference between a kimono and a monk's robe. That's the only thing I find odd about this.
Kimono are Japanese traditional clothes and there are styles for men AND women. You're basically talking about a robe that wraps around your body, is kept shut with multiple ties and an obi, and has square-ish sleeves that hand down from your arms. There's no hood or anything like that on a kimono. They are usually made of silk, but you can also get them in polyester, wool, or hemp these days. There are also cotton kimono called yukata that are very informal, but they're also very comfortable and much easier to care for than a regular kimono (since you can just toss them in the laundry when they get dirty). I think you should do a bit more research on your options before you buy something. You might also be able to find a pattern and make something.
