Knitting Kimono Patterns

knitting kimono patterns
Question: Can I make a knitting pattern my own?

It was a magazine pull out pattern from Woman's Weekly for a kimono cardi. I found it unneccessarily complicated, so I have changed the stitch patterns from moss stitch to stockingette, and changed the edgings from garter to K1 P1 rib. I have also knitted it from back to front rather than front to back (it is knitted in one piece).

Can I make the pattern my own? I only want to use it on my knitting blog.
EDIT: I want to put it on my blog as a free pattern.

Answer: Any sweater pattern is a variation of the same basic designs, either in one piece (top down, bottom up or side to side), or in pieces. Everyone is reinventing the wheel by adding different stitches, finishes and shapes.
Your pattern was "inspired by" the original, but you have made it your own...use it.
