Japanese Baby Kimono

Question: What is the reason 4 Japanese woman walking like penguins?

Some Japanese, I dont know if its only them, but I've seen movies and some plays where Japanese women in their Kimonos will take these baby steps when walking? What is the reason for that? Is it more feminine to their culture to walk like that? I was told that, when they are young, they get their feet crushed, to keep them small, but I dont believe that..Do you know the reason?

Example: In Memoirs of a Geisha, the women walk this way
The bitch...next time u "try" an insult someone, especially calling them uneduated, make ur your statement makes sense...
lol, then again, I couldnt even get offended, looking at ur profile and your questions, LMAO, your just a waste of sperm..Your father should have just spit u out on a napkin or something

Answer: Contemporary Japanese women no longer walk this way (except for Geishas, who still do exist). Geishas walked that way because they were always supposed to be demure and ladylike, they were actually "trained" on how to walk. I also think that the kimono and sandals they wore restricted their movement. Their way of life is considered an art even today. Foot binding is actually a Chinese custom that luckily is rarely done anymore (I think it was banned).
