Question: site to help put on a Japanese kimono and obi?

Does anyone know a good website for directions on putting on different kinds of Japanese kimono and obi?
Im not very good at it so I need to practice.
I own like 4 different types of kimono: komon, yukata, kuro tomesode, ______.(cant remember name at moment)

And obi: maru, osaka, ________. (name escapes me)

Thanks for any info. :)

Answer: Maybe a furisode, houmongi, iro tomesode, iro muji, or tsukesage? And there's no such thing as an osaka obi, so do you mean nagoya? The other one might be a fukuro obi or a hanhaba obi, depending on what it's for.

I would start with the links of Immortal Geisha in the kitsuke section, since there are a ton of different tutorials there, including links to picture and video tutorials and recommendations of books (books on kimono usually include a section on basic kitsuke). Before you can dress, though, you'll need to match up your kimono and obi and you'll need to buy some other accessories. There are a bunch of links on Immortal Geisha that can help you with that too, and if you join the forums you can ask any questions you want. There are many members with lots of knowledge about kimono and kitsuke there.

And yes, you CAN put a kimono on by yourself, it just takes a little patience and practice to get all of the details right. I have dressed in yukata and komon on my own, and I have friends who have dressed in furisode and other very formal kimono by themselves.
