To Wear A Japanese Kimono

Question: A question about men in kimono?
I've always been wondering.
I'm currently reading a light novel in Japanese. There are father and a son there who are public prosecutors and they always wear kimono, be it everyday life or work. And the plot takes place in modern times.
Do any men in Japan wear kimono like that, just because they want to? I mean, not for a festival or a holiday. But just because they want to on a daily basis.
Answer: For a daily basis? Just because they want to?
It would be rare. The only people I can think of are Sumo wrestlers and occasional monk or priest who wear a kimono type robe.
But "normal" or "regular" people who just wear it, just to wear it, no I can't think of them. It would just be considered "weird".
It would be extremely strange for the public prosecutor and his son (if in real life) to be wearing a kimono at all times. The newspapers would probably be writing stories about "why?".
