On A Japanese Kimono

Question: How can I do such a career?
I want to something in Japan when I graduate from high school, and I mainly want to create Japanese kimonos as a career. Everyone that I've told this to is confused on how I would become one, because no colleges teach this subject.
I've been interested in Japanese culture every since I was little, and am learning Japanese currently; and I love it. I also love the beauty and art of kimonos, and would love to have a life around making them.
Granite, I might change my mind as I got older, but if I decide I really want too; how could someone get around to doing something like this? Is it usually just a family taught skill that isn't professional learned, or are there places in Japan that actually teach this?
Thanks for any help; I really appreciate it
Answer: I'm guessing the best way would be to track down a company that makes these and ask them what background you need. If you can find a store that sells them in Japan you can probably find their supplier and go from there.
