Question: How to make a Japanese miko/shrine maiden costume?
I need to make a Japanese miko/shrine maiden costume for a costume thing I'm going to. I have less than a month, so I can't buy one.
Any helpful ideas are greatly apperciated!
Thankies!<3

"The traditional attire of a miko would be a pair of red hakama (which are long, divided trousers) or a long red slightly pleated skirt tied with a bow, a white haori (which is a kimono jacket), and some white or red hair ribbons. In Shintoism, the color white symbolizes purity."

Answer: The top is a kimono and the bottoms are hakima. You can find patterns for these on line. Note that most of the patterns are for martial arts practitioners, but you can use them with any material.
